Writer Elif Shafak is on World Book Club (BBC World Service radio) this month talking to BBC’s Harriet Gilbert and readers of Safak’s  novel, The Forty Rules of Love–an exploration of love and mysticism through parralel stories of an unhappily married modern day American housewife and the 13th century Sufi poet Rumi.

Through her writing, Shafak reunites polarization among people and breaks apart traditional dualities that define the experiences of women, of men, and of our contemporaary global world and Turkish society throughout centuries.
